Christopher McCandless: I'm going to paraphrase Thoreau here... rather than love, than money, than faith, than fame, than fairness... give me truth.
-Into the Wild
Great movie and a really inspirational true story which I thought related a lot to me because I agreed with about 99% of what he said and I would really like to have some of the same experiences he did.
This should be a fun year, I've never been a very good writer, and I have never enjoyed writing much either. I think this class could turn that around. My English teachers have never really challenged me or taught me much about rhetoric so this is a new subject for me. I grew up in a town right outside of Philadelphia, PA. It's called King of Prussia (were famous for our mall, it was just named the biggest mall in America). I'm interested in the Sciences and my major is currently Biology and Neuroscience. My dad went to Ohio State University so you can imagine all the complaining when I told him I'd be going to PSU.
If anyone can find a shirt that looks like this, I would love to give one to my dad for Christmas. Anyway back to things that are relevant to this class. I'm interested in MMA style fighting, I plan on joining the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club (someone told me there was one) at PSU. My favorite movie is The Boondock Saints. I got 64 stitches in my eyebrow in 1st grade because I ran into a slide...and I think that's about it. We Are...
My favorite band is Blink 182 and unfortunately there was just a concert back around my hometown, I missed it because I couldn't find myself able to leave Penn State (too much fun) for a weekend. Enema of the State (a Blink 182 album) is, in my opinion, the best album ever made. Travis Barker which is their drummer, is my favorite drummer of all time. Also, I feel like every song they have made can be related to my high school days which is why I like them so much.
Another interesting fact about me is that I am part Persian and Lebanese (like 1/16th for each) which from my experiences, not a lot of people are. Persia was where Iran is now. My great grandmother moved from Persia to Russia when she was one, but that's where she was born. If anyone is really curious, Prince of Persia is not based on any true stories associated with Persia...whatsoever, as a matter of fact Jake Gyllenhaal gives Persians a bad name in that movie.
Yeah..Persia was pretty big.
